Mengnan"s parents got really upset. They went to doctors for help, but the doctors agreed that Mengnan would probably never be able to hear again for the rest of her life.

It was no easy task for Mengnan, but she kept practicing, day in and day out. Finally, she managed to “hear” everything said to her. Then she went to school and learned by reading the teachers’ lips. She set the alarm clock on her mobile phone, put it on “Vibrate”, and then held it tightly(紧紧地)in her sleep so that it would wake her up at the right time for class the next day. And to people"s amazement, she was always one of the top students in her class.
